Abstract
⺠Use of self-assembled active photonic crystal which does not involve infiltration. ⺠Emphasizes the role of reflectance in achieving stimulated emission. ⺠Shows spectral narrowing, directional emission and threshold effect in emission. ⺠A sharp threshold for lasing requires at least 30 ordered layers and 70% reflectance.
