Abstract
► Gas-filled flat plate solar collectors have lower overall heat losses. ► The gas fill also improves the fin efficiency. ► It is also possible to use less material and achieve the same thermal performance. ► With thick aluminium absorbers, the factor of safety may limit the construction. ► Short cover to absorber distance improves thermal performance and factor of safety.
