Abstract
▶ A new Mg-7.8%Li-4.6% Zn-0.96% Ce-0.85% Y-0.30% Zr alloy has been developed. ▶ α-Mg, β-Li and RE-containing intermetallics formed in the extruded alloy. ▶ Three DRX domains and a flow instability regime are observed on the processing map. ▶ The optimum parameters for hot working are 250 ̊C/10 s−1 and 250 ̊C/0.001 s−1. ▶ Hot deformation mechanism of the alloy was studied.
