Abstract
â¶ 3D-stitched C-C preforms of thickness 50Â mm can be siliconized. â¶ The effect of siliconization conditions on strengths is significant. â¶ Flexural and tensile strengths increase with siliconization temperature and time. â¶ The Weibull modulus 'm' is about 10 for all the blocks siliconized for 120Â min at all temperatures. â¶ Non-uniform shrinkage of C-C preforms is the major factors responsible for scatter in the mechanical properties.
