Abstract
▶ Effect of corrosive environment was clearly observed in low ΔK region. ▶ Fatigue crack growth rate decreased with decreasing frequency from 15 to 0.5 Hz. ▶ Crack closure was the dominant factor for the frequency effect from 15 to 0.5 Hz. ▶ Fatigue crack growth rates became higher at frequencies lower than 0.05 Hz. ▶ Higher crack growth rates were attributed to the corrosion attack at the crack tip.
