Abstract
ⶠEffect of mean stress and environmental sensitivities on high cycle fatigue (HCF) performance in TIMETAL 54M compared to Ti-6Al-4V. ⶠTIMETAL 54M shows normal mean stress sensitivity but Ti-6Al-4V shows anomalous mean stress. ⶠBoth alloys are sensitive to air environment. ⶠHCF performance of TIMETAL 54 M was enhanced after shot peening and ball-burnishing but deteriorated in Ti-6Al-4V.
