Abstract
The effect of crack closure in Timetal 834 titanium alloy was studied in isothermal and thermomechanical fatigue (TMF) loading using crack opening displacement (COD) gauge and alternating current potential drop (ACPD) techniques. It has been confirmed that surface roughness induced crack closure has maximum effect at 600 °C isothermal test conditions.
