Abstract
ⶠThe paper provides a novel idea to investigate the formation of Ti3SiC2. It is feasible that the Ti3SiC2 bulks can be fabricated by infiltration of silicon liquid into the porous precursor pellets composed of solid TiC and Ti powders. ⶠThe compositions of impurities tend to change from Si-C and Ti-Si into Ti-C compounds along the silicon diffusion direction. We believe that the types of impurity depend on Si-concentration changes. ⶠReaction mechanism of this Ti3SiC2 infiltration synthesis has been discussed based on the Si-concentration changes on the diffusion path.
