Abstract
This paper examines the emissions from ships at berth in the Port of Bergen in Norway. As well as estimating the quantity of emissions, we look at estimates of the external costs of pollution and derive a cost for the pollutants emitted by the ships at berth in Bergen. The cost of these emissions is estimated at between €10 m and €21.5 m per year.
► Atmospheric emissions from ship sin port are calculated and evaluated. ► Ships emitted 664 t NOx, 8.7 t PM, 40,000 t CO2 and 19.4 t SO2. ► Overall externality costs are NOK 172.2 million. ► Cruise ships are responsible for a significant share of these costs.
