X-ray diffraction measurement of residual stress in WC-Co thermally sprayed coatings onto metal substrates

► Stress analysis of the coating was measured via X-ray diffraction by using Co-Kα radiation source. ► The as-sprayed coatings render the values that are both tensile and compressive on the substrate despite same powder as feedstock. ► A strong correlation exist between residual stress results and SEM micrographs.
