Abstract
► Type I hot corrosion of Ni-rich β-NiAl alloys with Co, Cr, and Pt was explored. ► Mass change measurements and microstructural observation were utilized. ► 5 at% additions of Co, Cr, and Pt to Ni-36Al were beneficial for Type I resistance. ► Cr was most beneficial, followed by Pt and Co. ► Benefit attributed to rapid formation and healing of thermally grown Al2O3 scale.
