Abstract
⺠Plasma-based low-energy nitrogen ion implantation into pure Ti at 700 °C for 4 h. ⺠A Ti2N compound layer about 2 μm thick and a 7-8 μm diffused layer formed on. ⺠Low friction coefficient of about 0.3 and faint wear volume on a ball on disk test. ⺠Pitting corrosion resistance of Ti improved in 3.5% and 6.0% NaCl solutions. ⺠Modified Ti possesses combined improvement in wear and corrosion resistance.
