Abstract
⺠Mechanism of microstructural evolution with Si addition has been characterized. ⺠Si addition in Al bath caused the formation of Fe-Al-Si phases. ⺠Si addition in Al bath increased the metal loss of steel substrate. ⺠Intermetallic layer decrease is dominated mainly by detachment of Al7Fe2Si layer.
