Abstract
This paper focuses on the experimental validation of the common model for adhesive wear initiation by Czichos et al. for conventional aluminum deep drawing operations. A strip drawing test with a 90° bending process is used for the studies. The local contact conditions at the drawing edge are examined by analytical examination and numerical simulation on different degrees of refinement. Contact normal stresses and temperature profiles are investigated and correlated with the experimental observation of adhesive wear.
