Abstract
One of the challenges of computer aided styling (CAS) consists in rendering surface forces, which are generated by the interaction of modelling tools and workpieces. Moreover, designers miss the form of real modelling tools when using less intuitive devices for interacting with digital systems. This paper describes methods, which allow a realistic virtual prototyping by not only taking the form factor into account, but also the appropriate haptic rendering algorithms as well.
