Abstract
⺠The well-ordered kaolins were more effectively leached. ⺠Activated metakaolins presented a considerable increase in surface area. ⺠A correlation with Al content and acidity for each prepared sample. ⺠Leached metakaolins studied showed catalytic activity for the esterification. ⺠Kaolin can be a raw material for the production of catalysts for the esterification.
