Abstract
Manufacturing is one of two key drivers of the Singapore economy, accounting for as much as 25% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) and employing about 20% of its total workforce. Since its founding in 1985, Nanyang Technological University has been preparing students for the manufacturing industry through specializations in manufacturing engineering and semiconductor fabrication. The university is cognizant of emerging technologies such as nanomanufacturing and has begun to incorporate them into its curriculum. In addition to traditional engineering training, all students undergo internships in manufacturing organizations to complement and reinforce classroom learning.
