Abstract
Theoretical and experimental studies on the heat flow in litter during the growth of birds were carried out. Theoretical studies relied on the solution of the equations governing the stationary flow of heat generated as a result of the exothermic reactions of litter decomposition. The model assumes the flow of quasi-stationary heat calculated as a set of stationary solutions at given moments. Experimental studies relied on measuring the temperature at the bottom and the surface of litter during birds' growth. The results of theoretical and experimental research were compared with each other. It has been shown under what conditions the litter can either heat or cool the rearing building.
