Abstract
⺠The paper studies a spinning rigid body under axial thrust and internal motion. ⺠Its stability is investigated by using linearized equations about a uniform spin. ⺠We show that the envelope of the stationary solutions is the stability boundary. ⺠New parametrizations of the stability boundary provide valuable new insights. ⺠The model is demonstrated by the actual parameters of ESA's Ulysses satellite.
