Abstract
I describe how to maximise the chances of achieving a successful coordinated observation campaign together with SOHO instruments (and TRACE). The ground rules, common pitfalls, useful resources and some essential “tricks of the trade” are covered. The most important hints are: start early, make contact with the instrument teams and the SOCs (soc@soc.nascom.nasa.gov), ask whenever in doubt, check the calendar, and be specific.
