Abstract
► We extensively surveyed craters on the surface of Mars. ► This survey reveals exposures of distinct bedrock types in the crater central uplifts. ► One type has a unique layered characteristic, similar to flood basalt morphology. ► We suggest this rock represents late-Noachian and Hesperian volcanism. ► Volume estimates of this material suggests a ∼23% thicker stack of volcanics than previously thought for this period.
