Abstract
⺠We make a geomorphologic description of some icy scarps of Planum Australe, Mars. ⺠We show they are very similar to listric normal faults on Earth. ⺠A formation scenario implying a mechanical failure and a basal sliding is proposed. ⺠We emphasize the implications to the ice rheology and basal conditions of the cap.
