Abstract
⺠We exposed carbonaceous siltstone to atmospheric entry in an artificial meteorite experiment. ⺠The siltstone preserved biomarkers despite exposure to 1775 °C. ⺠Raman and biomarker data show a thermal gradient to the exposed surface. ⺠Meteorites could preserve evidence of biology on the parent body.
