Abstract
⺠We find that the lunar basins formed in two separate bombardment episodes. ⺠One episode comprises early bombardment and the other an impact spike. ⺠Early bombardment was likely dominated by primordial Mars-crossers. ⺠The later spike was caused by impact disruption of one Vesta-sized body. ⺠This body was likely also the parent body of mesosiderite meteorites.
