Abstract
⺠We model the effects of basin-forming impacts on the mantle dynamics of early Mars. ⺠A single basin-forming impact can alter the flow field of the entire mantle. ⺠Such an impact promotes long-lived single-plume mantle convection. ⺠Cumulative effects of multiple impacts are expected. ⺠The alteration of the mantle dynamics is dominated by the five largest known impacts.
