Abstract
► A reflectivity map of Mars is obtained from the radar sounder SHARAD. ► We apply statistical models to retrieve surface roughness and dielectric constant. ► Scattering is the most important process dominating reflectivity over Mars. ► The non-stationary nature of most martian terrains is confirmed. ► RMS roughness can be obtained for slightly rough surfaces without any calibration.
