Abstract
⺠The presence of hydrocarbons and oxygen in a planetary atmosphere may imply biology. ⺠Micrometeorites can produce methane upon atmospheric entry. ⺠It is possible that this methane may be misinterpreted as a false biosignature. ⺠We discuss the requirements for this effect and its implications.
