Abstract
⺠The momentum transfer from the solar wind to the geotail via MHD waves is studied. ⺠FMS-waves from the magnetosheath excite SMS-waves at the resonance magnetic shells. ⺠Ions in the geotail lobes acquire from SMS-waves an average Earthward velocity. ⺠This mechanism can generate an Earthward flow of the magnetospheric convection.
