Abstract
We present an exact analysis of one electron transport across a coupled system of model mesoscopic rings threaded by a uniform magnetic flux. In particular, we examine the effect of the proximity of the rings on the transmission characteristics within a tight binding formulation where, the 'proximity' is controlled by varying the inter-ring hopping integral. We show that such a system exhibits very interesting transmission characteristics, including flux controlled switching mechanism, a feature that may be observed in recently proposed molecular bridge systems.
