Abstract
												A Monte Carlo simulation approach to solve the problem of measuring volume sources in gamma-ray spectrometry is described. The simulation package PENELOPE, with a cylindrical geometry tool was used to model two measurement systems and to calculate the detection efficiency for volume sources of γ emitters affected by coincidence-summing effects. γ-Ray spectra and experimental detection efficiencies from multi-γ emitting nuclides as 60Co, 88Y, 134Cs, 152Eu and 166mHo are compared to the simulation results.
