Abstract
The HERMES transversely polarized hydrogen internal target is operational since the end of 2001 in the HERA lepton storage ring. A problem which has to be faced is the nucleon depolarization which can take place when the transient magnetic field generated by the beam interacts with the polarized nucleons and change their spin state. The performance of the target is described and compared with the previous running periods.
