Abstract
Using 14M Ï(2S) events accumulated by BESII at the BEPC, a covariant helicity amplitude analysis is performed for Ï(2S)âÏ+ÏâJ/Ï, J/Ïâμ+μâ. The Ï+Ïâ mass spectrum, distinctly different from phase space, suggests Ï production in this process. Two different theoretical schemes are used in the global fit to the data. The results are consistent with the existence of the Ï. The Ï pole position is determined to be (552â106+84)âi(232â72+81) MeV/c2.
