Abstract
We present a measurement of the ratio of the decay rates Î(KLâÏ+Ïâ)/Î(KLâϱeâν), denoted as ÎK2Ï/ÎKe3. The analysis is based on data taken during a dedicated run in 1999 by the NA48 experiment at the CERN SPS. Using a sample of 47â000 K2Ï and five million Ke3 decays, we find ÎK2Ï/ÎKe3=(4.835±0.022stat.±0.016syst.)Ã10â3. From this we derive the branching ratio of the CP violating decay KLâÏ+Ïâ and the CP violation parameter |η+â|. Excluding the CP conserving direct photon emission component KLâÏ+Ïâγ, we obtain the results BR(KLâÏ+Ïâ)=(1.941±0.019)Ã10â3 and |η+â|=(2.223±0.012)Ã10â3.
