Abstract
► A first-principles calculation of nonlinear electron-photon interactions when tunnel ionization dominates is presented. ► TDDFT is applied for the description of transient localized electrons dynamics. ► The relationships among average absorbed energy, Keldysh parameter and laser intensity are revealed.
