Abstract

âº We examine band gaps in a special one-dimensional locally resonant system. âº Bragg and resonance gaps co-exist. âº Explicit formulas for locating band edges are derived. âº Exact physical models are used to clarify the band gap formation mechanisms. âº Coupling between Bragg and resonance gaps leads to a super-wide gap.
