Abstract
⺠This note analyses geographically-localised shelf waves on curving coasts. ⺠The underlying eigenvalue problem is shown to be non-self-adjoint. ⺠Asymptotic formulae are obtained for slowly-varying curvatures. ⺠An example is given where the solution to the asymptotic problem is explicit. ⺠Numerical solutions using a new nonlinear boundary condition confirm the analysis.
