Abstract
► BMP4 and Noggin play key roles in the proliferation/quiescence balance of the neural stem cells in the adult hippocampus. ► The hippocampal neurogenesis is changed in AD. ► BMP4 and Noggin are disturbed in the hippocampus of AD patients. ► Modulating hippocampus neurogenesis through BMP4/Noggin pathway possibly represents a promising strategy for AD therapy.
