Abstract
⺠Increase of prevalence of hyponatremia over time, as result of increased life expectancy with hyponatremia-associated comorbidity and medication, was not found. ⺠The prevalence of hyponatremia on geriatric wards is comparable with intensive care units and 4-6 times higher as on other hospital settings. ⺠Old age is not the only explanation for the higher prevalence of hyponatremia in geriatric patients.
