Abstract
⺠Obesity presents with adverse effects on health and decreased life expectancy. ⺠Excess adipose tissue promotes increased oxidative stress and inflammation. ⺠Erosion of telomeres is a mechanism of premature cellular senescence. ⺠Shorter telomeres are associated with increasing adiposity and visceral fat. ⺠Telomere length and attrition affect accelerated obesity-related-aging processes.
