Abstract
⺠Visceral adiposity and insulin resistance are common in aldosteronism patients. ⺠We report the effects of heme oxygenase (HO) on visceral adiposity in DOCA rats. ⺠The DOCA rat is a model of human aldosteronism. HO was enhanced by heme arginate (HA). ⺠HA suppressed visceral adiposity and inflammation and enhanced insulin sensitivity. ⺠The effects of HO on NF-κB, JNK, MCP-1, and ICAM-1 in visceral adiposity are novel.
