Abstract
⺠Leishmania major pseudoperoxidase acts as a scavenger of peroxynitrite. ⺠Peroxynitrite reacts with the six-coordinate low-spin heme of this protein to help catalysis. ⺠L. major pseudoperoxidase is located at the plasma membrane of amastigotes. ⺠This protein plays an important role in the virulence of Leishmania.
