Abstract
⺠Plasma haptoglobin is oxidized in mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer disease. ⺠Oxidation of haptoglobin contributes to amyloid fibril formation. ⺠Extracellular chaperones are impaired in Alzheimer disease. ⺠Haptoglobin may be considered a putative marker of Alzheimer disease progression.
