► Peroxisomal proliferator-activated receptor δ (PPARδ) activation prevents radiation-induced oxidative stress/inflammation. ► PPARδ inhibits NF-κB via transrepression by physically interacting with its p65 subunit. ► PPARδ prevents activation of the PKCα/MEK1/2/ERK1/2/AP-1 pathway. ► PPARδ activation modulates radiation-induced microglial proinflammatory response.
