Abstract
⺠Urate repairs Trp and Tyr radicals efficiently in proteins. ⺠The rate constants and the efficiency of the repair depend on the protein. ⺠Urate inhibits electron transfer from Tyr to Trp radicals in chymotrypsin but not in pepsin. ⺠Urate may be an important repair agent/antioxidant in vivo. ⺠Loss of ascorbate is expected to be the net result of the repair.
