Abstract
⺠NOX1 was significantly up-regulated in the heart of septic animal models. ⺠Nox1 deficiency improved cardiac dysfunction and survival in septic mice. ⺠Nox1 deficiency reduced cardiomyocyte apoptosis in septic mice. ⺠Decreased level of phosphorylated Akt in septic heart was blunted by Nox1 deficiency. ⺠NOX1 enhances endotoxin-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis by regulating Akt signaling.
