Abstract
⺠We studied if supranutrition of Se induced gestational diabetes in rat dams. ⺠Gestational diabetes was induced by feeding dams Se-yeast at 3 mg Se/kg. ⺠High maternal Se exposure and high-Se feeding led to insulin-resistant pups. ⺠Tissue expression of six insulin signal proteins was altered by the high-Se diet. ⺠Gpx1 and five other selenoprotein genes were linked to the metabolic disorder.
