Abstract
⺠Flavonoid-rich diets appear to delay the initiation of Alzheimer's Disease (AD). ⺠Flavanols reduce pathology and improve cognition in AD transgenic mice. ⺠Flavonoids enhance memory, learning and cognitive performance. ⺠Mechanism relates to inhibition of amyloid β generation and aggregation. ⺠Mechanism also mediated by flavonoid interactions with intracellular signalling pathways.
