Abstract
► Flavonoid-rich diets appear to delay the initiation of Alzheimer's Disease (AD). ► Flavanols reduce pathology and improve cognition in AD transgenic mice. ► Flavonoids enhance memory, learning and cognitive performance. ► Mechanism relates to inhibition of amyloid β generation and aggregation. ► Mechanism also mediated by flavonoid interactions with intracellular signalling pathways.
