Abstract

This paper presents a physical-queue discrete-time dynamic network model for interacting with multiple vehicle types. Single-type kinematics wave method is extended to multiple-type kinematics wave method. It is assumed that only two flow conditions on link, one is queue condition, various vehicles cannot overtake, and the speed of various type vehicles is same. The other is free-flow condition; each type of vehicles can run according to the each type of free-flow velocity. The possible link inflow and exit flow rates are calculated based on the cumulative link arrivals and departures, and then actual link inflow and exit flow rates are given. The simulation results show that the model can demonstrate the multimodal spillback conditions among the links.
