Abstract
► Exposure to low doses of cylindrospermopsin, a cyanotoxin, impaired lung function. ► Deterioration of lung mechanics was preceded by lung inflammation and oxidative stress. ► Along 96 h after exposure the concentration of cylindrospermopsin increased in the liver and decreased in the lung. ► For the first time such a comprehensive study on pulmonary consequences of the exposure to cylindrospermopsin is reported.
