Abstract
⺠The gene expression of endothelial cells treated with jararhagin was evaluated. ⺠Jararhagin up-regulated pro-inflammatory gene transcription on endothelial cells. ⺠Pro-inflammatory mediators were not increased on cell surface or culture supernatants. ⺠Jararhagin destabilizes endothelium from its quiescent state. ⺠Jararhagin prime these cells to respond to exogenous stimuli by facilitating the activities of inflammatory mediators.
