Abstract
► The gene expression of endothelial cells treated with jararhagin was evaluated. ► Jararhagin up-regulated pro-inflammatory gene transcription on endothelial cells. ► Pro-inflammatory mediators were not increased on cell surface or culture supernatants. ► Jararhagin destabilizes endothelium from its quiescent state. ► Jararhagin prime these cells to respond to exogenous stimuli by facilitating the activities of inflammatory mediators.
